The Vincentian Family host a group of homeless people for a picnic to celebrate Pentecost in the Ukraine.

“The Spirit of the Lord has filled the world”

All  participants, both the homeless and volunteers, breathed with “the Spirit of the Lord”. In the words of  Sr. Marta Meshko

The Lord granted us the perfect weather, and the nature, will all its tenderness and beauty, spoke to us about deeds of the Creator. The air of frankness, joyfulness, gratitude and cooperation that reigned among attendees revealed to us “the breathing of the Spirit” who accompanied us all the time.

It was already the second outing. And we wish it becomes a tradition in the future. We prayed together and listened to the Word of God, ate together, sang, danced, drew pictures as well as recalled joyful moments and problems in our life. Those homeless people were not just help receivers, but also event’s active participants. Volunteers had a chance to learn there were no poor people, because every person was endowed with many gifts, but there were some life circumstances that resulted in person’s poverty.

The event was also interesting due to the participation of representatives of different denominations and charitable organizations – the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, Caritas, the Missionary Fathers of St. Vincent de Paul, the Oblate Fathers of Virgin Mary Immaculate, the Marian Sisters of the Miraculous Medal, the Theresian Sisters.

We are grateful to God for all received gifts.
