Archbishop Cupich praises DePaul University “I stand in great admiration of all you do each day.”

Archdiocese of Chicago

April 27, 2015

Dear Members of the DePaul University Community,

For 117 years, DePaul has been educating the sons and daughters of Chicago, many of them the children of immigrants, often without great means. This magnificent work of the Church is an extraordinary gift to the city. Even today, its 170,000 living alumni populate nearly every workplace in the city.

As the nation’s largest Catholic university, the university has supported every archbishop since 1898 and assisted the Church in uncountable ways. This university is a gift to the poor, to the City of Chicago, and to the Church’s mission of being a blessing to all people of every faith. Those who work here and all who call themselves graduates have every reason to be proud of this great legacy. Your pride is something I share, as I stand in great admiration of all you do each day.

I look forward to working closely
