When feasts conflict! – The Church remembers Mother Seton on Jan 4th every year, the anniversary of her death. But in 2015 the Solemnity of Epiphany (which changes dates every year) falls on 1/4. That means no Feast Day for Mother Seton.
BUT, the Seton Shrine requested permission from the Archdiocese of Baltimore to celebrate her feast to 1/3. And it was granted. (Thank you Archbishop Lori!) From the Seton Heritage website.
“And so, the Shrine’s Year-Long celebration of the 40th Anniversary of Mother Seton’s canonization will kick off January 3rd with a special Feast Day Mass.”
Fr. John Kemper, the Director of Mother Seton House in Baltimore will preside and preach. And you’ll have a chance to see the Vatican documents that officially made mother a Saint!”
