Reds Fans Donate 3,000 lbs. of Food to Neighbors in Need

CINCINNATI, August 11, 2021 – Cincinnati Reds fans showed their generosity last weekend by donating 3,000 lbs. of non-perishable food during the annual “Strike Out Hunger” food drive at Great American Ball Park. That’s enough food to provide 2,400 meals to neighbors in need. Fans who donated at least three food items before the Reds games on Friday, August 6 and Saturday, August 7 were offered a voucher for a ticket to an upcoming game.

“We are extremely grateful to partner with the Reds for a 14th year to provide hope and help to our neighbors in need,” says Mike Dunn, Executive Director of St. Vincent de Paul – Cincinnati (SVDP). “Too many families in Greater Cincinnati find themselves making tough decisions – like choosing between buying groceries or paying rent. Thanks to the generosity of the community, St. Vincent de Paul has the resources to help neighbors who turn to us for assistance putting food on the table.”

Food collected at the ballpark will be distributed through SVDP’s Catino Choice Food Pantry, located inside the Neyer Outreach Center in Cincinnati’s West End neighborhood, as well as through St. Vincent de Paul’s network of 11 neighborhood food pantries.
