Host an international student on the feast of Vincent

Niagara_University_signHost an international Student on the feast of Vincent. Niagara University has come up with what to me seems a novel way to celebrate the feast of St. Vincent.

It might easily be adapted to host not only a student from a local educational institution but also to invite someone we serve to share a meal with us.

From the press release…

The Office of International Relations is looking for volunteers to host an international student in their home for dinner on Saturday, Sept. 27, during family weekend.  Most international students’ families will not be able to visit campus during family weekend, and we would like them to have a U.S. family experience.  The Office of Multicultural Affairs & International Relations will sponsor an open house on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 2 – 4 p.m., just outside the international relations office.  We ask faculty and staff who plan to host a student to come to the open house to meet their student and then take them to your home for dinner and bring them back to campus.

If you are interested in hosting a student, please email the Office of International Relations at intrelations@niagara.edu, and let us know how many students you can accommodate.  Once we receive the responses, we will connect students with their hosts and send you information on your student.

We appreciate your involvement with enhancing the international student experience.
