In an article in the Vincentian Heritage Journal, Father John Rybolt, C.M. describes and analyzes the two engravings in the original edition of the Common Rules of the Congregation of the Mission.

From the abstract of the source article:

“Vincent approved these [engravings] and they summarize the themes of his teachings. Both convey reverence for the Trinity. The title page also highlights the importance of veneration for the Eucharist and devotion to Mary. The frontispiece shows Jesus teaching or healing, and sending his apostles to continue this work. The importance of imitating Jesus, especially in deeds for others, is emphasized.”
