In August, the traditional weekly suburban children’s camp was held in Stara Boleslav in the Czech Republic. It is organized by Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul for children from 4 to 16 years old. In 2022, 19 of them signed up.
Three Lay Vincentian Missionaries from Slovakia (Mary Vicianova, Ivan Gorny and Kamil Kartac), collaborated with the Daughters of Charity and enjoyed working with the children.
The program for children was very diverse. There were competitions in various disciplines, chalk painting on the ground, a visit to an animal farm, tug-of-war, ice water in the parish garden, a seemingly endless hike through the forest, various sports games and much more. The children also got the opportunity to learn about St. Louise de Marillac.
“The goal was to leave a mark in their hearts, to give time, to give ourselves and to contribute a little to spreading goodness and love,” shared Mary. “If it was possible for even one of them, I thank Our Lord.”
We really are grateful to Our God for this opportunity. We have gained much more than we have been given.
