Holy Cross Chaplet for Deliverance from Covid-19

by | Jan 23, 2021 | Formation, Spirituality and Spiritual Practice

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

“Moses, therefore, made a brazen serpent, and set it up for a sign:
which when they that were bitten looked upon, they were healed” Nm 21:9

“Behold the wood of the Cross, on which hung the salvation of the world”

(Pause for Reflection)

Psalm 23 – Hymn to Yahweh, the Good Shepherd
– A Prayer of Trust for Deliverance from Covid-19

Yahweh is my Shepherd, I shall not want;
You make me rest in green pastures, You lead me beside still waters

You restore my spirit
You guide me in paths of justice for your Name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the valley dark as death
I will fear no evil; for you are with me.
Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies
You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over.

Surely Your goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life
And I shall dwell in Your house for all time to come.

(Period of silence and shared reflection)

Opening Prayer

Almighty and eternal God, our refuge in every danger, to whom we turn in our distress;
in faith, we pray to look with compassion on the afflicted, grant eternal rest to the dead,
comfort to mourners, healing to the sick, peace to the dying, strength to healthcare workers,
wisdom to our leaders  and the courage to reach out to all in love,
so that together we may give glory to your holy name. Amen
(from the Roman Rite Votive Mass “specifically to implore God to end this pandemic”)

O Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal,  Mary Immaculate,
Health of the Sick, pray for us to our merciful and loving God,
that this great suffering may end and that hope and peace may dawn anew.

O St. Joseph, Protector of the Church, pray for our families and for all who are sick
and for strength to those who are caring for them.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known, that anyone
who fled to your protection, implored your help and sought your intercession was left unaided.
Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto you, O virgin of virgins, my mother.
To you I come, before you, I stand, sinful and sorrowful.
O mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy
hear and answer me and deliver our world from Coronavirus pandemic. Amen.

St. Vincent de Paul, prompt and compassionate in relieving the necessities of the poor,
the elderly, the sick and the children, in imitation of Jesus: Pray for us.

St Sebastian, great intercessor for us with God, endowed with power from God
to avert pestilence and all contagious diseases like Coronavirus pandemic: Pray for us

O Mary, Conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you
for protection from Covid-19 and all contagious diseases. (3 Times)

We offer these prayers through the powerful intercession of the Saint, Blessed, Venerable, Servant of God…
(Insert the name of the founder or the Special patron of the Congregation)
faithful in the practice of Prayer & in the Ministry of the Word and friend of the poor.  Amen.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen.
