Psalm 23 – Hymn to Yahweh, the Good Shepherd
– A Prayer of Trust for Deliverance from Covid-19
Yahweh is my Shepherd, I shall not want;
You make me rest in green pastures, You lead me beside still waters
You restore my spirit
You guide me in paths of justice for your Name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley dark as death
I will fear no evil; for you are with me.
Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies
You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over.
Surely Your goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life
And I shall dwell in Your house for all time to come.
(Period of silence and shared reflection)
Opening Prayer
Almighty and eternal God, our refuge in every danger, to whom we turn in our distress;
in faith, we pray to look with compassion on the afflicted, grant eternal rest to the dead,
comfort to mourners, healing to the sick, peace to the dying, strength to healthcare workers,
wisdom to our leaders and the courage to reach out to all in love,
so that together we may give glory to your holy name. Amen
