Feast of Blessed Rosalie Rendu, D.C.

by | Feb 5, 2017 | Daughters of Charity, Formation

February 7 is the feast day of Blessed Rosalie Rendu, D.C., whose humble “example and message continue to reverberate in the minds and hearts of those who are seeking to relieve the plight of those who are poor and abandoned”* today.

*From the introduction of her biography written by Sr. Louise Sullivan, D.C.:

On 21 August 1997, Pope John Paul II beatified Frederic Ozanam, the principal founder of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. In his homily, the Holy Father evoked Sister Rosalie’s name. He stated, “The bonds among the members of the Vincentian Family have been strong since the origin of the Society because it was a Daughter of Charity, Sister Rosalie Rendu, who guided the young Frederic Ozanam and his companions toward persons who were poor in the Mouffetard section of Paris.”

The following presentation written by Georgia Hedrick speaks of this collaboration as a flame of charity.
