Sr. Sara MSBT heads Academy of Catholic Theology
At the May 2015 convention of the Academy of Catholic Theology in Washington D.C., Sr. Sara Butler MSBT was elected president for the coming year (2015-2016). Her primary responsibility will be the preparations for the 2016 convention. Sr. Sara is a founding member of the Academy. It is defined by its decision to pursue excellent scholarship according to the method of Catholic theology. Sr. Sara continues in ministry at Mother Boniface Spirituality Center’s Evangelization Office. (Many groups from the Vincentian Family use this Center for meetings.) She is also professor emerita of theology at Mundelein Seminary (archdiocese of Chicago).
Sister Sarah is a member of the Missionary Servants of the Most Blessed Trinity found by Father Judge, CM of the Eastern Province of the Congregation of the Mission.
Meet Sister Sara In 2004 Pope John Paul II appointed her to the International Theological Commission which meets annually in Rome, and Pope Benedict XVI appointed her as an “expert” for the Synod of Bishops in Rome in October, 2008.
