Ellen Dauwer, SC – Religious Formation Conference Executive Director

Dauwer SCThe Board of Directors of the Religious Formation Conference is pleased to announce the appointment of Sister Ellen Dauwer, SC, as the Conference’s next Executive Director, effective January 1, 2016.

A Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth from Convent Station, New Jersey, Sister Ellen is presently completing her second term as a member of her congregation’s General Council. In this role, she served as Council liaison for vocation promotion and initial formation and participated in the establishment of an ongoing formation group for her congregation. She has been engaged with the Religious Formation Conference since 2007, participating in its national congresses and in the series The Transformation of Religious Life in North America: An Action-Oriented Initiative. During her term as Secretary of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, Sister Ellen was a member of the Commission on Religious Life and Ministry, a group composed of representatives of LCWR, CMSWR, CMSM, and the USCCB; she is currently a member of the Advisory Council for LCWR’s leadership development program Leadership Pathways.

She has taught on many levels, published widely, offered presentations to gatherings of vowed religious as well as to professional groups, and served on Boards and Councils for health care and educational institutions. Her Ph.D. and M.A. are from New York University, her B.A. from the College of Saint Elizabeth. “We look forward to welcoming Sister Ellen Dauwer, SC, as the next Executive Director of the Religious Formation Conference, confident that, in collaboration with the Board, national office staff, and all RFC members, she will lead the Conference into a future bright with promise and hope,” said Sister Sue Dunning, CSJ, co-chair of the Board. Sister Ellen will be present at the Religious Formation Conference’s biennial national Congress in Pittsburgh, PA, November 5-7, 2015, and looks forward to meeting RFC members there. Until Sister Ellen assumes the leadership of the Conference on January 1, 2016, Carol Regan, SUSC, will continue as interim Executive Director.
