Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, begins this coming Wednesday evening, Sept. 24, and ends the evening of Friday, Sept. 26. Pope Francis told an interviewer that “inside every Christian is a Jew.”
“Every day, I pray with the Psalms of David. My prayer is Jewish, then I have the Eucharist, which is Christian,” the Argentine pontiff added.
The Canadian Catholic TV website Salt and Light presents an article by well known Thomas Rosica with insights into Jewish Holy Days which have had such profound impact of Christian Holy Days.
“On the eve of Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) this year, Pope Francis met at Domus Sanctae Marthae on Wednesday January 18 with Jewish leaders to mark Rosh Hashana. Among those attending the event were World Jewish Congress President Ronald S. Lauder, Latin American Jewish Congress President Jack Terpins, WJC Treasurer Chella Safra and a number of Jewish community heads and senior WJC officials. ”
