Sister Dorothy Moore, CSM, received an Honorary Doctorate from St. Francis Xavier University at the Spring Convocation ceremony on May 5th, 2024.

The University writes: “We’re thrilled to honour Elder Sr. Dorothy Moore, a trailblazing Mi’kmaw educator and activist, with an honorary degree at our Spring Convocation. From pioneering the Mi’kmaq Studies Program at Cape Breton University to her influential work in education across Nova Scotia, Sr. Dorothy’s contributions have left an indelible mark on our community and beyond. Widely acclaimed for her significant success in helping to improve the lives of Mi’kmaq people we are proud to recognize her extraordinary achievements and lasting legacy.
