I attended the North American Vincentian Family Gathering at De Paul University, Chicago, IL this fall as a young adult delegate for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. I was amazed by how many different groups are part of the Vincentian family, and have St. Vincent de Paul as one of their patron saints. Everyone was super friendly and I got to talk to Daughters of Charity, Vincentian priests, and many other lay groups. Every group had different ways of serving others. I became closer with the others in my group, and learned how to present what we do to others.
One of the highlights was the group Gen Verde. Gen Verde is a performing arts group made up of 19 women from 14 countries. Their goal is to help young people in need find their voices through the music and dance. Their music was very unique and centered on faith and service, and it was amazing to hear their story. There are so many people working to make the world a better place.
“Walk On Holy Ground” is a new song by Gen Verde specially written for the followers of St Vincent de Paul, but at the same time, a prayer for all those who feel called to follow in the footsteps of Jesus.
