August has been filled with excitement, curiosity, community, and Vincentians! We are so excited for the 2023/2024 Colorado Vincentian Volunteers (CVV) group. Check out some photo highlights from the last few weeks here in Denver by clicking here!

CVV has been highlighting each volunteer and their placement site. See the welcomes below!

CVV 29 Introductions: Amanda!

Amanda comes to us from Pennsylvania. After receiving her BSN from Catholic University of America, Amanda is very excited to use her nursing skills at Stout Street Health Clinic.

Stout Street is part of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless and provides healthcare to individuals with no insurance or who are underinsured.

Words that continue to inspire Amanda and her work come from Bits and Pieces by Mother Teresa. “I alone cannot change the world, but I will give my hands to serve and my heart to love in hopes that will make an impact on those I encounter.”

CVV 29 Introductions: Julia!

Let’s give a big welcome to Julia Perez! Originally from Connecticut, Julia comes to CVV after graduating from Catholic University of America in D.C. with degrees in Psychology and Sociology. This year Julia will be working at Urban Peak, which is a nonprofit that works with youth ages 15-24 who are experiencing homelessness.

Julia’s favorite quote is “Stop acting so small. you are the Universe in ecstatic action.” -Rumi

CVV 29 Introductions: EB!

Originally from Iowa, EB joined CVV after graduating with a degree in Biology and Medical Anthropology from Creighton University. With a passion for health equity, EB is very excited to be learning and cooking with SAME Café (So All May Eat).

SAME Cafe is the longest running, donation based fair-exchange restaurant. Serving healthy, local, and organic lunch daily, guests are invited to participate through donating time, money, or produce creating a space of hospitality and community for everyone.

When it comes to creating community, EB’s favorite quote to reflect on is “We cannot love God unless we love each other, and to love we must know each other” – Dorothy Day

Stop by for lunch at @samecafedenver and help us give a warm welcome to EB!
