Sisters Vinaya and Philomina attended the annual commissioning of Southern Denary of Malindi Diocese: Catholic Women Association (CWA), the only group the Catholic women are affiliated to in the Diocese of Malindi. They meet every year for a retreat where new members are commissioned. The CWA is a Catholic movement whose main goal is to enhance the spiritual growth of Catholic women and enable them to participate more effectively in the evangelization and sanctification of humanity.

The CWA members have special uniforms, a blue dress, headscarf, badge, and a blue wraparound with mother Mary’s picture. In spite of COVID-19 regulations more than 400 women gathered in Malindi for their retreat during the Feast of Sr. Monica, their patron Saint. Following the retreat, 160 new members were commissioned. Sister Vinaya has volunteered to coordinate the CWA program in Gongoni Parish.
