In this video from their “Seeds of the Mission” series, we hear that a DePaul student in danger of failing a course explains to his professor, “Thanks to you and your constant emails, and the support, and your celebrations of the small things I was able to accomplish, I decided to start showing up for office hours [decided to ask for help]… if it were not for your constant messaging of this being a Vincentian institution, that embraces the poor, that welcomes the most diverse population of students, and because I saw that that was genuine…” The student ended up passing the course, and it was a “very illuminating” experience for the teacher as well. Listen as Professor Ruben Parra tells the story.
