From the beginning of a talk by Sr. Donna Franklin, D.C.:
“The topic I have been given for this talk is Louise at the end of her life. Before discussing the mature Louise I believe it is important to take a brief look at the concept of maturity. Developmental theories traditionally profile adulthood as the ability to be independent and autonomous. In looking at Louise during her mature years, I suggest an additional measure for maturity. This measure is the ability to live in harmonious relationship with others. The concept is one of interdependence.”
