Latin America is now the epicenter of COVID-19. Like many times in the past, the Vincentian Family has stepped up to the challenge and is continuing to work with the poorest of the poor during this difficult time.
The Vincentian Family in Ecuador, who are already part of our “13 Houses” Campaign, kick-started the campaign “To take care of all of us,” an initiative in which different branches work together to raise funds and distribute food among those who are suffering the most.
The Family have distributed food vouchers and negotiated with grocery chains and small shops in remote communities. In doing so, families have been able to access food and hygiene products worth up to $20, helping them to avoid hunger and prevent the spread of the virus.
One of the beneficiaries has been Mariana Pillajo and her family:
“We thank God for these supplies that you have given us: rice, noodles, sugar, soap, oil, and butter. Without your help, our situation would be desperate, the help offered by the Government and the local authority does not reach those who really need it. Only you, the Vincentian Family, have come and met our needs. I thank you for the good heart that you have, we cry with gratitude when we receive it.
Thanks to your will, you who send us these foods and the generous people who help you, we have no need to deny God because you are here to help us, we are always in prayer, asking the Lord to provide for all those in need.
May God bless you and multiply you”
