May 25, 1802: Blessed Rosalie Rendu Enters the Daughters of Charity in Paris

Blessed Rosalie Rendu was only 15 years old when she became a Daughter of Charity. For the next 54 years she dedicated herself to serving the poor in the Mouffetard, the most deprived district of Paris.

“From the age of reason, Jeanne-Marie Rendu [Blessed Rosalie] had thought of consecrating herself to God. None of the joys of the world attracted her. She wanted no part of its celebrations or glitter. At the same time, she felt drawn by its groans and misery.” -Armand de Melun
