The Company of the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul, and the International Confederation of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul are organizing an exhibition of photos from 18 to 23 September, at the 36th session of the Human Rights Council, on the subject:
“The Vincentian Family serving the poor around the world for 400 years”
This event forms part of the celebrations for the 400th anniversary of the first organisations of charity founded by Saint Vincent de Paul in Châtillon sur Chalaronne (01) France.
There are currently 2 Vincentian organisations represented at the United Nations in Geneva: the Company of Daughters of Charity and the Confederation of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul. After an introduction to the various branches of the Vincentian Family and their charism, the exhibition highlights the work of SSVP Conferences and the Company of the Daughters of Charity through the photos of their projects around the world. The objective is also to draw the visitor’s attention to the founding spirit of the Vincentian movement. It follows in the footsteps of Saint Vincent de Paul with over 2 million volunteers around the world, seeking to come to the aid of any human distress, whether material, moral, physical or spiritual, and to fight against poverty in order to achieve integral sustainable development and restore the dignity of any man, woman and child. It does this with no discrimination, wholly engaged in the human project to contribute to the eradication of the causes of poverty and always working to maintain peace.
Monsignor Ivan Jurkovic, Apostolic Nuncio with the United Nations in Geneva, Apostolic Nuncio at the United Nations in Geneva, will host the opening event of the exhibition, with a delegation from the Apostolic Nunciature, several bishops, priests, religious brothers and sisters, representatives of NGO partners in the Forum, the CCIG, as well as other organisations.
The opening event will be on Tuesday 19 September, at 5.45 pm.
We hope that many Vincentian members present in Europe or who may be visiting will attend the exhibition, which will last a week.
