Sr. Caroljean Willie, Sister of Charity of Cincinnati, shares the song “If A Stranger” with the Vincentian Family. Although the song is copyrighted by the Columban Fathers, they have given us permission to use it and post it on the Famvin website. Sister Terry Thorman, SC wrote the song to include in the Global Awareness and Mission Education program that Sr. Caroljean wrote for the Columbans. The program, called Journey to Jesus, is for Pre-K to 8th grade. This song was included in the 7th grade segment entitled “Migrants, Immigrants, and Refugees.”
Thank you to the Columban Fathers for giving us permission to share this song with our Vincentian Family! Click the “play” button below to hear the song.

From the Columban Fathers website:
Journey with Jesus [is] our Mission Education Program designed for elementary schools and Religious Education classes in parishes. The program has curriculum for each grade starting with pre-kindergarten through 8th grade. Each curriculum has a unique theme that brings world realities and the work of missionaries to the student learning experience. The primary goals of the program are to give students a deeper understanding of their baptismal call to mission, develop global awareness and a sense of interconnectedness of all creation, and encourage students to reflect and become active participants in creating God’s kingdom on Earth.

If A Stranger… If a stranger lives among you in your midst, do not harm him. If a stranger lives among you in your midst, do not harm her. You must count this person as your own and love him. You must count this person as your own and love her. You were once strangers, too. I am Yahweh, your God. Where do you come from? Why are you here? What do you want from me? Are you my neighbor? Are you my friend? Are you the one to love? If a stranger lives among you in your midst, do not harm him. If a stranger lives among you in your midst, do not harm her. You must count this person as your own and love him. You must count this person as your own and love her. You were once strangers, too. I am Yahweh, your God. You seem so dif’rent, dif’rent from me. How do I learn to love? You have a fam’ly. You want to work. You need a life that’s free. If a stranger lives among you in your midst, do not harm him. If a stranger lives among you in your midst, do not harm her. You must count this person as your own and love him. You must count this person as your own and love her. You were once strangers, too. I am Yahweh, your God.
