Since last week, Depaul Ukraine has been preparing for the celebration of the anniversary of St. Vincent de Paul. According to their Facebook page, there have been many different activities going on to prepare for and celebrate the feast of St. Vincent de Paul:
On September 19, a group volunteered to clean up the chapel near the Mother of God. They removed old leaves, branches and debris so those visiting can enjoy a spiritual experience near Mary.
The Kharkiv branches of Vincentian Family, namely: Fathers Missionaries, AIC (International Association of Charity) and “Depaul Ukraine” baked “vincentian gingerbread.” It will be sold for donations throughout Depaul week, and in particular on the 27th of September after a festive service in the Church of St. Vincent de Paul and other churches.
At the “Street Outreach” in the Day Center at the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary on Gogol Street 4 in Kharkiv, a gala screening of the film about the life of St. Vincent de Paul was held. Before showing the film, a priest of the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, Father Ian, spoke about the features of St. Vincent. After the screening, guests were treated with sweets, distributed wishing medal depicting the Virgin Mary and answered all the questions of those present. During the event guests showed great interest and emotionally react to the film and conversation.
