From September 27-29, 2024, Casa San Vicente de Paul in Xochimilco, CDMX, hosted the National Assembly of MISEVI Mexico. More than 24 members from the northern, central, lower and western regions of the country gathered to strengthen their commitment to the evangelizing mission and Vincentian spirituality.

Deepening the Mission and the Charism

The assembly was enriched with valuable presentations. José Luis Rodríguez addressed the mission of the laity from the perspective of the Magisterium of the Church, analyzing documents such as Lumen Gentium, Aparecida and Evangelii Gaudium. Fr. Servando Sanchez CM explored Vincentian Spirituality in depth, breaking down the seven characteristics that define it: love for the poor, missionary spirit, virtues, evangelizing charity, integral formation, spirituality in daily life and teamwork.

Jesus, model of the missionary disciple

Fr. Rosendo Martínez CM presented Jesus as the shaper of missionary disciples, inspired by the V General Conference of the Latin American and Caribbean Episcopate (Aparecida 2007). There was a reflection on synodality, understood as “walking together to proclaim the Gospel”, and the Statutes of Misevi Mexico, in harmony with international guidelines, were presented.

Vocation, a call to serve

Alma Ostos (MISEVI North) invited the participants to reflect on life as a vocation, a call to serve God and others. The Missionary Vocation Days were presented, addressing crucial topics such as the challenges to follow Jesus, the family as a model of vocation, marriage and singlehood.

St. Vincent de Paul, a source of inspiration

Inspired by the legacy of St. Vincent de Paul, the members of MISEVI Mexico committed themselves to live the Vincentian charism in their evangelizing efforts. St. Vincent, with his unconditional dedication to the poor and his tireless missionary labor, is a role model for those who seek to build a more just and fraternal world. His example encourages us to go out to meet those most in need, to serve with humility and to proclaim the Good News with joy and hope.

Conclusion

This National Assembly marked a landmark in the path of this organization. The Assembly was a space for meeting, formation and discernment, where the participants reaffirmed their commitment to the mission of evangelization. The fruits will be seen reflected in the work that MISEVI Mexico carries out in the different regions of the country, taking the message of Christ to the most needy and building the Kingdom of God from the Vincentian spirituality.

Next steps

The assembly concluded with a formal session where topics such as the promotion of the Vincentian charism, the election of the board of directors, the planning of activities for the current year and 2025 and the definition of the next national assembly were discussed.
