The Rosalie Projects: Dances with Wolves

The aim of the “Dances with Wolves” project was to provide legal and psychological support for two abused women and their children.

There was no shortage of difficulties during the hearings and legal proceedings, but the support received made it possible to see the case through to the end.

In the first case, that of Mrs L. T and her 4 children, several legal proceedings, notably for domestic violence, were successfully completed. Her husband was sentenced to 3 years in prison. Two children were placed in alternative care, in the Children’s Home for 6-15 year-olds, and the 2 youngest in the Home for 1-6 year-olds.

Mrs. L. T and her children were accompanied by psychologists and by the sisters, and still are.  The legal proceedings are now underway, with the request for divorce and custody of the children.

For the second woman, whose husband was very violent, the courts validated the divorce and granted her custody of her minor daughter. The case was followed through to the end by the sisters.

Thanks to this project, the children have been protected from years of physical abuse and violence. Their mothers are now free and far from their abusers; they have jobs and can look after their children peacefully. The children are provided with shelter, food, education and health services. They can now enjoy the right to live more serenely with their mother.

The women’s families are grateful for the help given to their daughters and grandchildren; they had no financial means of supporting them.

“All the funds have been used. Thank you all! We continue to support these women and their children because the violence experienced leaves long-term traces. There are many women and girls who are abused and unprotected because of the mentality of the region where they live.” Sr Besa Deda
