Candidates for International President of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Announced

In mid-2023, the 17th president general of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul will be elected to succeed Renato Lima, the current president. Following the Society’s rules, the candidates for the office of president have been made known.

The notice published by the SSVP states:

In accordance with the procedures set out in the Statutes of the International Confederation of the Society of St Vincent de Paul, the Electoral Board has reviewed the candidates nominated and has deemed that the following three members have satisfied the requirements cited in the Statutes and are eligible to stand for election for the 17th President General:

  • Eduardo MARQUES ALMEIDA (Brazil)
  • Juan Manuel BUERGO GÓMEZ (Spain)
  • María del Carmen GUZMÁN SOTO (Guatemala)
