Friendship With St. Francis de Sales

“Saint Vincent learned the power of a warm and persuasive word from Saint Francis de Sales, whose friend he became in October 1618. It took only a few months of mutual acquaintance to produce a harmony of soul that would bind Vincent to the spirit of Francis, but, above all, it would have him discover the cordiality, tenderness, and sweetness of charity.”

Artist: Giacomo Antonio Boni

Saint Francis de Sales, Saint Jane Frances de Chantal, and St. Vincent de Paul. Artist: Francesco Vellani

This series is a visual memory of the great exhibition The Colors of Charity: Iconography of Saint Vincent de Paul in Italian art between the eighteenth and twentieth centuries, which was on exhibit from 15 December 2017 to 25 February 2018 at the Collegio Alberoni of Piacenza.

The Congregation of the Mission has “described these masterpieces in a video, in order to give a visual testimony and also to allow those who were not able to take part directly in the exhibition to enjoy its beauty.”

– Fr. Erminio Antonello, CM, Province of Italy
