Rebuilding Beirut, Rebuilding Lives

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (Lebanon) is mobilizing to help those affected by the massive explosion that rocked Beirut on August 4th of this year.

The members are providing emotional and material support as well as health care to the people affected by this tragedy. To this end, projects are being undertaken to improve the lives of those who have been afflicted by Beirut’s explosion.

With this in mind, the SSVP in Lebanon has launched two initiatives: ‘Home renovation initiative’ and ‘RIS(m)E’ (Rising again starts with the reconstruction of SMEs). Both initiatives are focused on rebuilding homes and businesses which were damaged by the explosion. Reconstruction works of over 235 households and 51 small and medium-sized businesses have already been completed. The target, though, is the reconstruction of 1,000 households and 300 businesses.
