The Activities of the Vincentian Family in Sierra Leone

by | Jun 8, 2020 | News

The Vincentian Mission in Sierra Leone is a most cherished one, very dear to the heart of the Province of Nigeria.

We arrived St Columba’s Parish, Moyamba district in the Catholic Diocese of Bo, Sierra Leone from Nigeria in October 2017. Two of us are here; Fr Jeremiah Agada, CM and Fr Princewill Uche, CM

Our Apostolate is to reawaken the dwindling faith of the people of Moyamba because many churches was deserted after the ravages of war and the menace of Ebola epidemic disease in Sierra Leone

The introduction of the Society of St Vincent de Paul and the Vincentian Marian Youth Movement has enabled us reach out to the less privileged in an organized charity and to evangelize many young people on the streets.

Relying on divine providence we hope to spread the devotions beyond our parish to the Diocesean level and introduce the Association of the Miraculous Medal. The Bishop of Bo has been encouraging us to do so.

Top in our agender this year 2020 is to establish a skill acquisition center that will comprise a computer training center, bakery, tailoring center, fish farming and hairdressers in Moyamba, to give the numerous straying unemployed youths opportunity of self reliance. We are relying strongly on divine providence.
