International Coordinator of the Vincentian Family Homeless Alliance Visits Chile

by | May 10, 2019 | News

Mr. Mark McGreevy, International Coordinator of the Global Initiative of the Vincentian Family for the Homeless, visited Chile from April 28 to May 5. The main objective of this visit was the signing of an agreement between this commission of the Vincentian Family and the State of Chile, to encourage and help people who are homeless.

Prior to the official activities, which began on May 1, Mr. McGreevy spent time with the missionaries of the Provincial House of the Congregation of the Mission, where he stayed from April 28-30. He also visited Valparaíso and was in the San Vicente de Paúl Parish of Playa Ancha.

On Tuesday the 30th he had a meeting with the leaders of the Vincentian Family in Chile (as well as other guests) at the San Vicente de Paul Seminary in Macul. There, he gave a lecture on the work of the Vincentian Family Homeless Alliance, and on the Vincentian Family’s intention that, in each country, there be a work to help the homeless called “13 houses”, in reference to the thirteen houses built by Saint Vincent de Paul for the poor with a donation he received from King Louis XIII. He insisted that it is a collaborative effort among the different branches of the Vincentian Family, as well as in the work carried out by Missionaries, Daughters of Charity and Confraternities of Charity.
