My Dear Vincentians, Members of the Conferences of Saint Vincent de Paul, MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Congratulations to all the Vincentians around the world for their dedication, affection and zeal as they accompany day after day those people who experience some form of material or spiritual need.
The new forms of suffering demand that we look anew at our society and consequently seek for new ways to attack the roots causes of poverty.
Just as Christ is the light of the world, so also your presence in this world is a light for all people. As Vincentians, our activity is intended to offer our suffering sisters and brothers a better life, a life based on the love of God and neighbor.
During this holy season of Christmas, we renew the ideals of solidarity, charity and love … ideals which are the hallmarks of every Christian and which constitute the legacy of our Founders.
Where there are shadows, sadness and indifference, let us bring the love of Jesus Christ.
Where there is envy and vanity, let us bring the tenderness of Mary’s heart.
Where there is hopelessness and emptiness, let us bring the boldness of Saint Joseph.
On behalf of the International General Council, the International Board of Directors and the staff in Paris, I wish you a MERRY CHRISTMAS!
We also pray that 2019, (the International Year of Paul Lamache and 180 anniversary of the Council General), be for everyone a year full of achievements, especially as we continue to minister on behalf of the outcasts of this world. May God bless us and forgive us our failures.
Praised be our Lord, Jesus Christ!
