On August 15, Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, one of the thousands of pilgrims who came to the Chapel of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Paris, was the newly elected Superior General of the Congregation of the Mission and the Daughters of charity, Father Tomaž Mavrič. He made a pilgrimage to the chapel Paris to trust his new mission to the Virgin Mary, St. Louise de Marillac and St. Catherine Labouré.

At the end of the Eucharist celebration, Father Tomaž pronounced the following words:

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

It’s with great joy that I address myself to all of you!

In these days and before I go to Rome to start my new mission as Superior General of the Congregation of the Mission and the Company of the Daughters of Charity, I desire to make this pilgrimage to our Holy Founders, St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Marillac in order to put these six future years under the gaze and protection of our Lady of the Miraculous Medal.

The last 400 years we’ve been living the Vincentian spirituality and service to the poor have led to many fruits! May a growing deepening of our Vincentian charism in this 21st century transform each one of us into “Mystics of Charity.”

May our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, St. Vincent, St. Louise, St. Catherine and all the Saints and blessed of the Vincentian Family intercede for us!
