Blessed Pierre-René Rogue, C.M. lived a courageous life during the time of the French Revolution, when the clergy was heavily persecuted. It is said that Pierre-René was “vertically challenged” (only 4’10” tall) but as you will see in the presentation below, he had a fierce will, was protective of his brother priests, and stood up to the civil authorities many times before being forced to go into hiding and was eventually guillotined on March 3, 1796. The Church celebrates Blessed Pierre-René’s Feast Day on September 2, together with four other martyrs of the French Revolution. The anniversary of his death is coming up next Thursday.
