Anecdotes of the Vincentian Family: The Virgin of the Miraculous Medal and Our Lady of Lourdes

by | Aug 12, 2023 | Formation

The Virgin appeared to Sister Catherine Laboure three times; the first time in 1830. Almost no one knew who the seer was until the death of Sister Catherine: only her confessor knew, who was collecting testimony. The Miraculous Medal was originally called the “Medal of the Immaculate Conception” but, as the devotion expanded and had granted many miracles through it, the people gave him the name “Miraculous Medal.”

The Miraculous Medal is known throughout the world, but it is little known that the apparitions in the Chapel of Rue du Bac in Paris prepared the great events of Lourdes.

“The Lady of the Grotto has appeared to me as displayed in the Miraculous Medal,” said St. Bernadette, around her neck a Medal of Rue du Bac.
