People with disabilities thrive when given proper access to the rights and privileges afforded to us all, but often, that access is not granted. The Daughters of Charity understand that to create lasting change, people with disabilities must be a part of the change.
The Sisters in Loei, Thailand helped those with disabilities become advocates for their own health and well-being. Together, they developed a program that includes raising awareness, seminars, workshops, a child/youth development program, and other activities to achieve sustainable, inclusive development for persons with disabilities.
Project Description
This project aims to build the developmental potential of Persons with Disabilities in Thailand at the community level. Daughters of Charity collaborates with local community-based organizations in the Loei province to provide advocacy education, promote community awareness, and provide vocational training to persons with disabilities and their families. Daughters of Charity plays a vital role in this collaborative network by providing empowerment education and strategies to improve policies for women and children because they are the most vulnerable to abuses and violations of their human rights. These ongoing efforts ensure access to services and build community support for those most at risk.
