The International Youth Committee of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul is convinced that when young people are committed to an important goal, they are capable of great and wonderful actions, so we officially launch the CULTURAL CONTEST – VNCENCIAN YOUTH COMMITTED TO QUALITY EDUCATION TO FIGHT POVERTY.
The topic of Quality Education can be found in Goal 4 of the global pact that defines the Sustainable Development Goals, proposed in 2015 by the United Nations (UN). This global pact proposes a sustainable development agenda until 2030 with 17 major goals and, as previously reported, Quality Education is defined as follows: “Ensure access to inclusive, quality and equitable education and promotes lifelong learning opportunities for all”.
This contest is truly a concrete gesture of the Vincentian Youth who will actively participate in the International Youth Meeting of the Vincentian Family and in the World Youth Day to be held in Lisbon in 2023, together with the Holy Father, Pope Francis. We hope that the various projects of the SSVP aimed at facilitating Quality Education, especially for the poor, will be an effective means to promote a real Systemic Change and strengthen the participation of the youth, following in the footsteps of the seven young students friends of Frederic Ozanam who founded the SSVP in 1833.
We invite all Vincentian Youth from 18 to 35 years old to participate in this contest and to send their projects focused on Quality Education as an effective means to fight poverty. Together and committed to the Mission, we can be young people on the move, promoters of social justice in order to make real in the here and now the dream of Antoine-Frédéric Ozanam: “to wrap the world in a great network of charity”.
