Sr. Louise Sullivan, DC, an expert on St. Louise de Marillac and 17th century France, explains that it took two special personalities– Louise de Marillac’s, and Vincent de Paul’s– to lead the Church forward in a recognition of its obligations to those in need. And Louise brought, at that time, an awareness of the role of women in that mission of the Church.
