On a national level, the Vincentian Marian Youth in the Solomon Islands is confronting certain difficulties. Nevertheless, the members of the existing groups are still participating in their individual group meetings and other programs. On a monthly basis, Bro. Gideon Tahuniet,i CM and Fr. Lawrence Kinika, CM are doing visitations and celebrating the Eucharist for the members of the various groups.
With all of this, the Vincentian Marian Youth is now becoming extended to another diocese where a new group was formed last October 2018 under the guidance of the Sisters of Charity from Zagreb, Croatia who are ministering in the Buma, Auki Diocese of the Solomon Islands.
The Sisters of Charity began a formation program, at first, for young women and through this program, they invited both young men and young women to participate. In October 2018 they began another group in the parish where they reside. There, the young men and women participated in an Advent retreat and came together for other activities. According to Sister Veronika Cibaric, who is currently coordinating the group, February 16th, marked the formal initiation of the Vincentian Marian Youth group. We pray that the members of these groups will remain faithful to their mission and at the same time we thank the Sisters for their service and ministry on behalf of the youth in this diocese of the Solomon Islands.
