We are approaching the final date (April 30, 2019) to register for the Festival “The Seven Founders,” which highlights the establishment of the first Conference of the Society.
The festival, launched by the International General Council of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, is intended to encourage research and a deeper understanding about the origin of the Society and the role of the seven founders: Antoine Frederic Ozanam, Auguste Le Taillandier, Jules Devaux, Paul Lamache, François Lallier, Félix Clavé and Emmanuel Joseph Bailly de Surcy.
The festival is a part of the celebrations that revolve around the 180th anniversary of the establishment of the International General Council (founded on July 21, 1839).
Only active members in the conferences can participate in the festival. The videos or films can be produced in three formats: short film (up to 40 minutes), medium-length film (from 41 to 69 minutes) and feature film (more than 70 minutes).
The deadline for the submission of videos or films to the General Council is May 15, 2019. The audio-visual works will be evaluated by a special commission and the announcement of the winners will take place on September 9, 2019, (the feast of Frederic Ozanam). The awards range from 1,000 to 2,000 euros.
Renato Lima, the 16th International President stated: “We hope that there will be very stimulating submissions that will help us to understanding the manner in which those seven visionaries, inspired by Divine Providence, put in motion a series of activities that led to the establishment of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. The seven of them, without exception, were instrumental in the establishment of this important charity institutions, which today continues to provide multiple services to our the men and women of our society.”
