Greetings to everyone!

In Rome, at the house of “San Juan de Avila” (the Spanish Episcopal Center), we have begun a tremendous event: the 2022 General Assembly of the Congregation of the Mission.

The morning began with breakfast. People greeted one another and were animated and excited about sharing in this experience. At 9:00am we changed our surroundings and went to the chapel where we celebrated the Eucharist which was presided by the Superior General, Tomaz Mavric. In his homily he placed us in the hands of divine providence … something that all members of the Company have done. There is no better way to guarantee our eternal happiness than renouncing ourselves in order to follow Jesus Christ. Father reminded us that providence leads us to a mystical union which provokes an affective and effective response in the hearts of people.

Our celebration included the participation of the vocal group, Gen Verde, who interpreted some of the hymns that were sung and which emphasized our care for the poor and the divine realities that surround us.

The first session of the Assembly was begun. There was a roll call of the 115 participants which was followed by a review of the activities that will take place during the following days.

Corpus Delgado was elected as secretary and the Directory of the General Assembly was approved.

After lunch, Father General presented those who would serve as moderators as well as those who would serve as members of the redaction and synthesis commission. The vice-secretary was also elected: Barta Szabolcs.
