Opening of the First 13 Houses Campaign Project for Homeless People

by | Aug 25, 2018 | News

The first 13 Houses Campaign project for homeless people officially opened after renovation work was completed. The two-bedroom house lies in the city of Little Rock, Arkansas, and is run by the Vincentian homelessness charity, Depaul USA. It will become home to an individual or family who have experienced or are at risk of homelessness.

The 13 Houses Campaign is a Famvin Homeless Alliance initiative supporting Vincentians to create housing for street homeless people, refugees and those displaced from their home, and slum dwellers in inadequate housing. The Campaign intends to house over 10,000 people in need across the globe. Chuck Levesque, Executive Director of Depaul USA, said: ‘I am so proud of the work done by our team in Little Rock. I think this house will be a credit to the city and a source of delight to our first tenant. I am enormously grateful to the generous donors who made this project possible.’

The 13 Houses Campaign is in its pilot phase and will be launched to the wider Vincentian Family towards the end of the year. Already, pilot projects across three continents are in motion, starting with this house in Little Rock, USA.
