Luka’s life fell apart after a spinal injury and the loss of his wife, leaving him isolated, incapacitated, and living in extreme neglect. With unwavering support from the DePaul Croatia Refuge House, he was ultimately admitted to a care home, where he now lives with dignity and proper care.

Toma’s Story: A Path Toward Hope

Toma, a 40-year-old man with epilepsy, struggles with extreme poverty and bureaucracy that denies him access to social welfare, forcing him to survive by collecting plastic bottles. With support from the House of Refuge of DePaul Croatia, he is working toward reclaiming his rights, finding employment, and building a stable, hopeful future.
