“To set people’s hearts on fire,” this is how Vincent described our vocation. Paul wrote to Timothy… and to these seven men… “I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you.”
Everyone wants structural change. Do we pray for it?
What would Vincent think about what this family could do today?
St. Vincent and Saint Louise were keenly aware of a two-tiered society in their day
To be a missionary is to leave one’s proper world and one’s secure place in the world in order to enter the world of the other; it is to leave one’s place in order to enter the place of the poor and to accompany the poor with the gospel.
“Who moved my Cheese” is a parable that describes how people face change. It’s about 4 characters running around in a maze trying to locate their “cheese” or what is important to them.
(We learn about those we serve)… “not from books nor from the public platform, but in climbing the stairs to the poor man’s garret, sitting by his bedside, feeling the same cold that pierces him.” Frederic Ozanam
Jesus Mission statement is short. “Bring Good News to the poor.” Six words! They were the most powerful words in his life. What did these words mean to Saints Vincent and Louise? Us?
COVID 19 is by no means the only pandemic we face. We need to work together… That requires a culture of collaboration.
