Reflections

The “March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom” on August 28,1963 was scheduled to include a 3-hour program of speeches and performances by various civil rights leaders.

This Christmastime has had a special character for me. Watching each of my nieces with her child has been an education.

Of all the songs associated with the Christmas season, is there any more widely known or sung than “Silent Night”? 

Are you ready for the beginning of a new liturgical year?

When we think about the celebration of Thanksgiving, one scriptural passage readily emerges from our Gospel readings. 

Each of the days that introduce the month of November—All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day—brings a different word to my mind. 

Have you been praying for peace in these days?  I hope so.  I certainly have.  As I do so, I find myself reflecting on the meaning of the word “peace” and what it means for the Christian.

It requires little effort to multiply the reminders that this is God’s world and given to us as a gift and a responsibility.
