Sor Margarita Rutan, Hija de la Caridad, directora del hospital de Dax durante la revolución francesa, fue guillotinada el 9 de abril de 1794 por no abjurar de su fe.
Por haber llevado una vida ejemplar y haber padecido martirio, fue proclamada beata por la Iglesia, tras más de cien aňos de proceso, en Dax, el 19 de junio de 2011.
Su fiesta litúrgica se celebra el 26 de Junio, junto a la de otras cuatro Hijas de la Caridad martirizadas, las llamadas «mártires de Arras o de Cambrai».
