Reflections

We celebrate the Solemnity of Saint Louise de Marillac on May 9th.  This feast invites us to think of Louise, her gifts, and her ministry.  Sometimes, I get caught up in a sidebar reflection.

One of the verses from a Gospel of the past week captured my thinking and prompted my reflection: “This is the work of God, that you believe in the one he sent.” 

The place of Mary sometimes surfaces in my reflections on the holy days of the Easter Triduum. 

I have never had my feet washed on Holy Thursday.  Mostly, I have avoided the invitation in some way or another. 

From a human point of view, water is inseparable from life.

Have you ever considered that the stations of the cross (usually) encircle us when we gather in our place of worship?

Each year I select a theme that gives direction to one/some of the programs that I organize at St. John’s University. 

Has anyone ever accused you of being “out of your mind?” 

Our liturgical year has again arrived at its longest season.  After the preparation of Advent draws us into the joyful celebration of Christmas, we move to “ordinary time” until Lent leads us into the Easter Season and Pentecost.
