Daughters of Charity

The aim of the “My Mother’s Castle” project was to set up a hostel in the desert region of “Château d’eau” (in Atar, Mauritania) where the Daughters of Charity have been living for 25 years.

Sister Rita El Khoury explains, “Education is under attack in this country. Learning gaps are increasing, which is why we wanted to support children in these difficult times by giving them tutoring.”

In Pacoti, in the north-east of Brazil (the state of Ceará), the Daughters of Charity run the Maria Imaculada Institute where 380 children from very low-income families are taken in.
