You’re used to seeing Fr. Benito Martinez’s reflections on St. Louise here. He’ll be back soon!

In the meantime, VinFormation, the site dedicated to Vincdentian charism  formation resources, offers an eBook  – Louise de Marillac, A Spiritual Woman

Abstract

We are able to reflect on the various stages in the development of her spiritual life. We come to appreciate her “mystical” experiences and also become involved in her ministry with the various Confraternities of Charity. As a child she never knew the intimate relations of family, and her husband would die at an early age. For years she was concerned about the ever-changing situation of her son. It could be said that the Lord had called her and molded her through several trials. This was done so that she would be prepared to give herself to the poor and establish a Company of women who would spend their whole life serving those men and women who are poor. Here we will see how the Spirit of God led her along that path that would enable her to deepen and develop her spiritual life.
