Celebrating World Day of Prayer for Vocations 2023 in Papua New Guinea

REPORT ON 60th WORLD DAY OF PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS – 29th April 2023

The program was initiated and organized by the Vincentian Family with Fr. J. A. Joseph E. Amith, C.M. the coordinator of FAMVIN Papua New Guinea. The event was held at Sacred Heart Teachers College – Bomana.

From 7.00 a.m. – 9.00 a.m. was the arrival time for all those who took part in this spiritual gathering. They were Vincentian Family groups (CM, AMM and VMY members) in the parish, who were transported to and from the hosting areas in an organized transport from Holy Spirit Seminary by Fr. Amith. There were some Religious Congregations who came in their own vehicles; they were the main focus of the program. The team from Radio Maria was also present to live broadcast the day’s activities. The day’s activities were opened by the Deputy Principal of the Sacred Heart Teachers’ College, Mr. Oitunatu, who also welcomed everyone to the program. Then from 9:30 a.m. – 12.00 noon. all those Religious Congregations who came, had turns in giving their talk about their Spirituality and their mission in general and in Papua New Guinea. Their spiritual awareness speeches were inspiring, inviting and encouraging to the young people to start thinking deeply into their lives and make better decisions. During the speeches, there were some Holy Name of Jesus Parish Youth groups who danced and sang making the program alive and interesting. These were some of the many Religious Congregation Members, Society of Apostolic Life and some other Associations were present: such as Capuchins, SVD, The Salesians, The Passionists, St Joseph of Cluny Sisters, The Handmaids of Our Lord Ancilla Domini- AD Sisters, Our Lady of Sacred Heart (OLSH) Sisters, DMI Sisters, Siervas de San Jose Sisters, Canosians Sisters, Diocesans Seminarians and Vincentian Missionaries, Association of Miraculous Medal and Vincentian Marian Youth.

Fr. Marcin Wrobel, C.M.

From 12.00 noon to 1:00 p.m. we had our Eucharistic Celebration presided by Fr. Marcin Wrobel, C.M. with two other priests, Fr. Joseph C.M. and a Passionist Priest. The liturgy was prepared and led by the students of the hosting college and Vincentian Marian Youth, After the Holy Mass, some congregations gave their pamphlets out to the youths to read.

The program successfully came to an end at 1:30 p.m. when Fr. Amith, the coordinator of the program, thanked everyone; all departed home safely.
